The MERPD is responsible for the formulation of policies, programmes and projects; implementation, monitoring and evaluation in relation to the subjects Economic Reforms and Public Distribution, Food Supply & Distribution and those subjects that come under the purview of Departments, Statutory Institutions and Public Corporation.

Mandated to formulate evidence based Economic Reforms Policies and programmes necessary to increase and sustain the GDP growth of the nation and undertaking economic and data analysis in order to develop National Policies by the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs.
